Academic Librarian, 12 month CLT, Vaughan Memorial Library
(Full-time 12-month Contractually Limited Term position starting on July 1, 2021)
The Vaughan Memorial Library is seeking a dynamic academic librarian to join our professional team and collaborate in developing and providing information services and learning environments for the Acadia community. The successful candidate will become the Special Collections librarian and the liaison librarian for the departments of History and Theology. The Special Collections librarian manages the physical collections, coordinates digitization projects, participates in outreach and promotion activities, and provides reference service for both Special Collections and Archives. Liaison responsibilities include teaching, delivering information services, collection development, and acting as a faculty liaison in assigned subject areas. As faculty members, academic librarians are expected to participate in scholarly activity and/or creative inquiry as well as service to the university and the profession.

The Library and Archives
Located at the heart of the campus, the Vaughan Memorial Library is the research centre for students and faculty and is committed to providing the highest standard of programs, services, and resources in support of learning, teaching, research and scholarly communication. The Library & Archives supports the University's teaching and research programs in the Faculties of Arts, Pure and Applied Science, Professional Studies, and Theology.
• Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited library school (or equivalent)
• flexibility in adapting academic qualifications and professional work experience to the Acadia environment
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• a strong service orientation with a commitment to working with faculty and students
• a creative approach to teaching and problem-solving
• the ability to work independently as well as to collaborate with others
• experience with Special Collections preferred
• knowledge of Atlantic Baptist history preferred
• academic qualifications and/or professional work experience in History and/or Theology or related disciplines preferred
• experience with digitization and digitization projects an asset
• experience with archives an asset
