Assistant/Associate, Business, Family, Indigenous or Private Law (4 Positions)

Osgoode Hall Law School at York University invites highly qualified applicants for 4 positions as an Assistant and/or Associate Professor in the areas of:
- Business Law (with demonstrated expertise in corporate law);
- Family Law (specifically focused on the fundamentals of family law with direct relevance and impact in Canada, including the law governing marriage, divorce, child custody and support, property division, adoption, guardianship and family dispute resolution); or
- Indigenous Law (specifically the law and legal traditions of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Although there is a preference for an Indigenous scholar, applications are welcomed from all qualified candidates); or
- Private Law (restricted to Contract Law and/or Tort Law).
We expect that two of these appointments would be made at the Assistant Professor level and two at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level. These are open tenure-track appointments to the Professorial Stream to commence July 1, 2027.

Candidate Qualifications:
- Degree: All candidates must hold a JD degree and a graduate degree in law or equivalent credentials. PhD or PhD near completion by the appointment’s start in law or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Scholarship:
- A coherent and well-articulated program of research, writing and knowledge dissemination.
- A record or evident promise of generating innovative, substantive, rigorous, and as appropriate, externally funded research and/or writing.
- A record or evident promise of making influential contributions and demonstrating excellence of a recognized international calibre in the field (e.g. clear research plan; a record of high-quality publications (or forthcoming publications), including with significant journals in the field; presentations at major conferences; awards and achievements; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing).
- Teaching:
- A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g. a teaching dossier; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations, including in high-priority areas such as experiential education and technology-enhanced learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference).
- Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the positions will involve graduate teaching and supervision.
Hiring Policies:
- The anticipated starting salary for this position at the rank of Assistant Professor is in the range of $115,000 to $145,000 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated starting salary for this position at the rank of Associate Professor will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. York University offers generous benefits and salary provisions.
