Assistant/Associate Professor, Computing Science

Thompson Rivers University

The Department of Computing Science at Thompson Rivers University ( is seeking to hire an outstanding female candidate for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor beginning July 1, 2018. This hiring is in accordance with Section 42 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code and is approved by the BC Human Rights Tribunal.

Thompson Rivers University ( is a uniquely comprehensive, student-focused institution built on over 45 years of excellence in post-secondary education and training. TRU's spectacular main campus is located in Kamloops, BC (, a prosperous city located just a 4 hour drive from Vancouver, a 50 minute drive from Sun Peaks (the second-largest ski area in Canada), in the heart of the southern BC interior. Kamloops offers world class tourism and recreation, excellent cultural, social and economic opportunities, as well as over 2,000 hours of sunshine annually.

The successful candidate must possess a PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline. Candidates must provide evidence of a potential for excellence in scholarship and teaching. Applicants should be able to develop an independent research program, including the ability to engage students in research at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate should be able to teach in a variety of undergraduate courses including, but not limited to, Computer Programming, Mobile and Web Applications Development, Artificial Intelligence, Software Architecture & Design, Database Systems, Human Computer Interaction, Programming Methods, and Operating Systems.

Applicants should send a CV including a list of publications, statement of research, a teaching dossier or similar record of teaching experience and names of at least three references.
