Assistant/Associate Professor Positions, Operations Management Area

McMaster University

McMaster University is located on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and Mississauga Nations and, within the lands protected by the Dish With One Spoon wampum agreement.

Position Description

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Operations Management Area. The positions will commence on July 01, 2023. Appointment rank (Assistant or Associate) will depend on qualifications and research records. Exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure may also be considered.

The minimum requirements for the positions include (i) a Ph.D. in Operations Research / Management Science / Operations Management or a related field from an AACSB accredited (or equivalent) school by the date of appointment; (ii) evidence of a strong scholarly record in peer-reviewed journals or the potential to establish a strong scholarly record; and (iii) evidence of, or strong potential for, teaching excellence.

The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to research and scholarship through publications in high-quality journals in Operations Research / Management Science / Operations Management, participation in prominent national and international academic conferences, and research supervision in their areas of expertise. The successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to the School's undergraduate and graduate academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations, and support the School’s initiatives within the business community.

Preference will be given to candidates with research interests and expertise in any of the quantitative areas of “Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence” and/or “Sustainability, Environment and Energy”. They will have solid analytical skills and a strong research agenda. The successful candidates will meet the highest standards of scholarship and professional activity, and teach courses in the undergraduate, MBA and PhD levels based on the Operations Management Area needs. They will also be expected to engage in service to the school.

• Research statement including research contributions and a 5-year research agenda and funding plan.
• Provide up to three research papers if you are informed by the search committee.
• Statement of teaching interests and philosophy (including evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as curriculum development/improvement, involvement in teaching review and engaging in different pedagogical approaches).

• Letters of reference are not required and will not be reviewed at the application stage. The Operations Management Area will request three letters of recommendation from referees at later stages of the search process.
