The Ingram School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking to strengthen its links to Black communities and expand its leadership, research and teaching capacity through the recruitment of a new faculty member in a tenure-track position in the area of health determinants and quality health care for members of Black communities in the Canadian health care system. This tenure-track position is open for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Members of Black communities are encouraged to apply because of the value and unique understanding that lived experience and community connection brings to quality nursing research and practice.
This position is part of a multi-year interdisciplinary initiative designed to strengthen and support research innovation and excellence in the domains of African and Black Studies at McGill University while simultaneously addressing the under-representation of Black faculty in the tenure stream, as laid out in McGill’s Action Plan to Address Anti-Black Racism 2020-2025 (ABRp).
The successful candidate will be joining the School at a stimulating time of growth and new energy with a recent expansion in education and research-focused faculty, major curricular revisions, and a new physical space featuring state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program and to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching for our diverse student body. They will also be expected to contribute to service activities within the School, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the University, or the wider community.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Candidates will have been educated as nurses or have a research focus relevant to nursing, have a doctorate in a health-related discipline and a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Post-doctoral training will be an asset, as will evidence of success in receiving competitive, external research funding.
• Promising candidates who would benefit from additional post-doctoral training may exceptionally be considered for a transitional fellowship in preparation for moving into this tenure-track position.
• Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to and in accordance with circumstances, a track record in health determinants and quality health care for members of Black communities in the Canadian health care system.
• In response to commitments made in McGill’s Anti-Black Racism Action Plan, among otherwise equivalent candidates, preference will be given to Black scholars.
• Candidates should be fluent in English; fluency in French would be an asset.
