Assistant Professor, Anesthesia (Clinical)

Position description

The Department of Anesthesia of McGill University and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) invite applications for a new permanent position in the Department of Anesthesia. The successful applicant will hold a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical), as a member of the Contract Academic Staff. This position does not confer eligibility for tenure.

Job Duties

The successful applicant will provide anesthesia care and academic leadership in research and education in the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Department of Anesthesia. The candidate will join a group of 18 clinical pediatric anesthetists. The position involves teaching fellows, residents and medical students of McGill University, participation in research activities and the medical education program provided by the McGill Department of Anesthesia and the Faculty of Medicine. Appropriate non-clinical time will be allocated according to the needs and agreed mandate. It is expected that the successful applicant will contribute to the acute pain service. Therefore, an interest in acute pain management and novel approaches such as hypnosis is highly desirable.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD degree and demonstrate expertise in Pediatric Anesthesia. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the province of Quebec and possess a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Fellowship, or equivalent. Candidates must fulfill the requirements for the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF).
