Assistant Professor, Global Equity Studies

The Department of Women’s Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing 1 July 2024. This is a full-time tenure track appointment within our department, focusing on the field of global equity studies. We are seeking an innovative scholar with expertise in feminist environmental studies, development studies, and/or sexuality/queer studies, with a strong record of teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in women and gender studies.

The Department of Women’s Studies at MSVU provides various undergraduate and graduate degree options, including, but not limited to, a major, minor, honours within the B.A. option, and an M.A. program. It also proudly houses the endowed Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to teach and develop courses within our global studies stream and contribute to the advancement of the queer studies minor. Additionally, they will be expected to offer instruction in core courses within our degree options at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as part of the regular teaching load. Demonstrated experience in teaching women's and gender studies at the undergraduate level is required, and experience at the graduate level is considered an asset.

Specific courses will be tailored to the program's needs and the unique expertise of the successful candidate. Applicants are strongly encouraged to highlight areas of teaching and research interest that complement the department's focus on global equity studies, such as, but not limited to:

• Feminist perspectives on international development, social justice, and equity.
• Gender, sexuality, and environmental politics and activism in a global context.
• LGBTQ+ rights, activism, and representation in international settings.

The ideal candidate will actively engage in collegial service, particularly within the Department, while maintaining an active scholarly and publication record. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or be near completion in Women and Gender Studies or a closely related field.
