Assistant Professor/Nikanahtpat (Director) MI'KMAQ WOLASTOQEY CENTRE

The University of New Brunswick, Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Nikanahtpat (Director of the Mi'kmaq-Wolastogey Centre) in the Faculty of Education. Nikanahtpat is a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with administrative duties (50%) related to administration of the Mi'kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre (MWC) . The Nikanahtpat is a five year renewable term.

The MWC is a centre within the Faculty of Education and works closely with the 15 First Nations communities in New Brunswick and those in the Atlantic region. MWC currently offers the Bridging Year Program; Bachelor of Education for First Nations students;and our newest program, the First Nations Governance and Leadership Certificate.

Candidates are required to be an individual of Indigenous First Nations,Metis and Inuit peoples heritage,with preference to those from the Wolastoqey or Mi'kmaq Territory who have a completed or in-progress PhD.The successfu l candidate will have proven interpersonal, leadership, financial and human resources skills to oversee all programs of the MWC and support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, UNB's TRC Strategic Action Plan and the Association of Canadian Deans of Education Accord on Indigenous Education.
