Assistant Professor or Lecturer (Tenure Track) - Department of Sociology & Social Studies

Université de Regina

The Department of Sociology & Social Studies at the University of Regina invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor. The anticipated date of commencement is July 1, 2020.

We are seeking candidates with teaching and scholarly expertise in two of the following three areas: Environmental Sociology, Political Economy, and Sociological Theory. In addition, priority will be given to candidates who can also contribute to the Department’s teaching program in one or more of the following areas: Canadian political economy, Canadian political ecology, environmental history, historical sociology, and/or sociology of racialization, ethnicity, indigeneity and decolonization. Preference will be given to candidates who are prepared to develop these topics into imaginative and innovative courses that examine substantive issues in their historical and theoretical contexts.

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in Sociology (or cognate fields), a record of scholarly activity, and evidence of excellence in teaching. The Department is committed to a balanced program of teaching, scholarly activity, and service to the community.
