The Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position in Technology and Operations Management, beginning July 1, 2022 at the Assistant Professor rank.

Qualifications

The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Operations Management or a closely related area, with a strong background and training in quantitative methodologies. ABD near completion will be considered. The successful candidate will have recognized ability to deliver high-impact, scholarly research; demonstrated teaching excellence in subjects relevant for this position; and leadership abilities. Research interests consistent with Beedie’s Vision 2022 strategic priorities including innovation, social responsibility, and a global perspective will be prioritized.

Duties

The candidate will be expected to contribute via impactful research and publications in top tier journals; curriculum development and student engagement; and participation in university’s collaborative academic community through service. The candidate will be expected to teach quantitative courses in areas such as Data and Decisions, Simulation, Decision Analysis, Operations Management, and Supply Chain Management, both at undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the successful candidate will actively participate in Beedie’s collegial self-governance and offer assistance and guidance to students, peers and the academic community through activities such as committee work, mentorship and experiential learning opportunities.¬¬ The successful candidate will share Beedie’s commitment to diversity, engagement, and generating positive change in its communities.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview via Zoom and/or in person at INFORMS 2021 in Anaheim, CA. Candidates interested in an interview at INFORMS should send their complete applications no later than October 8th.

A complete application must include:
• a cover letter outlining alignment of your research, teaching and scholarly activities to the position’s qualifications as well as to Beedie’s strategic priorities and vision
• an up-to-date, full curriculum vitae (include details of research and teaching, scholarly record, funding, evidence of impact, and list of collaborations/partnerships)
• a proposed program of research for the next 5-10 years and at least two examples of scholarly work
• a teaching portfolio and/or evidence of teaching potential in the area (this may include a statement of pedagogy, prior or proposed syllabi, and evidence of your commitment to improving your teaching practice)
• names and email addresses of 3 referees (ranked in order of preference). SFU will contact referees directly.
