Position description

The Department of Medicine at McGill University invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor as a member of the Contract Academic Staff (Clinical). The incumbent will also be the Director of the Division of Nephrology of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).

The Division of Nephrology is a highly productive unit, with a cadre of outstanding researchers, clinicians and teachers. The Division provides a full spectrum of clinical services in nephrology, dialysis and transplantation.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will provide leadership for the clinical and educational missions of the Division, promote independent and collaborative research and fulfill administrative responsibilities at the institutional, university, regional and provincial levels, where appropriate.

The candidate is also expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching and supervision of clinical trainees, graduate students and involvement in academic and administrative committees).

Qualifications and Education requirements

Candidates must hold an MD degree and must hold certification in Nephrology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, as well as be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certified by the Collège des médecins du Québec.

Candidates should have strong leadership qualities and a proven outstanding track record in basic and/or clinical research, with demonstrated success in obtaining peer reviewed funding and promoting research into kidney disease. They should have experience in clinical service and training of students, residents and fellows.

All candidates must be fluent in English with a working knowledge of French.
