The University of Lethbridge is seeking a strategic leader for its Faculty of Health Sciences. This faculty offers programming in Nursing, Public Health, Addictions Counselling, Therapeutic Recreation, Aboriginal Health, and graduate studies. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences is the academic and administrative leader of the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Dean has responsibility for enhancing the reputation and profile of the Faculty, and for providing leadership in setting vision and strategy as the Faculty continues to seek ways to differentiate itself in a rapidly changing and complex education environment.

As a visible, approachable, inclusive and collaborative member of the senior leadership team of the University, the Dean will lead the Faculty of Health Sciences in an ethical and transparent manner to achieve long term sustainability through continued innovations in programming, collaborations, and research directions. As an exceptional relationship-builder, the Dean will play a key role in developing and maintaining strategic relationships within and external to the Faculty of Health Sciences and the University of Lethbridge. This leader is inspiring and enthusiastic, a recognized community collaborator with the ability to articulately present a vision to internal and external stakeholders, and is a mentor to students and faculty ensuring support and engagement.

Through their ongoing commitment to keeping the University student-focused, faculty-led, research-intensive, and grounded in an inclusive perspective on liberal education, the Dean will support students through a quality educational experience that will position them to be competitive candidates in their chosen careers and contribute to building a better society through better health. As a passionate advocator for the Faculty, the Dean will promote excellence and integrity in teaching, research and scholarly activity, while fostering a climate that pushes the boundaries of the traditional approaches used in higher education. The Dean will demonstrate a record of equity, diversity and inclusion and provide a healthy environment for people of all backgrounds in which to work and study while recognizing and appreciating the diversity within the Faculty.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD, or advanced terminal degree in Health Sciences or a related field, and would be seen as an accomplished scholar who is a leader in their field. Recognized for their leadership experience in an academic setting, the ideal candidate has a broad appreciation for the multiple health disciplines, and the diversity of programs, offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences. As a leader who is visible, energetic, approachable and decisive, they will have proven leadership experience in an academic setting, such as a Dean, Associate Dean or Department Chair. As a strong relationship builder, the next Dean for the Faculty of Health Sciences will foster respect, integrity, support, and self-awareness in interpersonal relationships and will be a passionate advocate for the Faculty of Health Sciences while balancing the multifaceted demands of the role.
