The Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Winnipeg invites applications for a full-time Instructor position beginning July 1st, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval. Applicants must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in criminal justice or a related discipline at the time of appointment. Those with a PhD, LL.M. or other terminal graduate/professional degree will also be considered. As an interdisciplinary department, we welcome applications from individuals whose academic training is traditionally associated with studies in criminal justice (e.g., Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law, Sociology) as well as justice studies training in other disciplines (e.g., Psychology, History, Politics, Education, Geography, Economics, Philosophy, Indigenous Studies, Human Rights, Women and Gender Studies). The preferred applicant will have teaching experience in areas related to interdisciplinary justice studies. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department of Criminal Justice is a unit of eleven full-time faculty with disciplinary training in criminology, politics, geography, history, urban studies, psychology, education, law, and sociology who are committed to a broad and inclusive interdisciplinary approach to the study of criminal justice. The Department has over 700 undergraduate majors, is active in research, places a strong emphasis on teaching, and is home to a robust Honours and Master of Arts program. The successful candidate will teach a host of core courses and electives for the Bachelor’s degrees of criminal justice. We seek candidates with demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and thesis supervision. A commitment to collegiality and self-governance is also important.
