Building on our main area of strength in Population Dynamics and Social Inequality, the Department of Sociology at Western, http://sociology.uwo.ca, invites applications for a probationary tenure-track faculty position in Social Stratification and/or Work. Over the past three years, the Department has made seven new tenured/tenure-track hires in this area. We expect to hire at the Assistant Professor level, but applications from exceptional, experienced candidates at higher academic ranks will be considered. The starting date for this appointment is July 1, 2019 or as negotiated.

To be considered for this appointment, applicants must hold a PhD in Sociology or a closely related discipline, and provide evidence of research excellence through a record of internationally recognized publication in the discipline’s leading journals and strong endorsements from referees. Candidates with strong quantitative research expertise are preferred. Evidence that a candidate has presently, or at least has the potential to develop, the capacity to conduct innovative externally funded research projects that complement the Department’s core research activities in social inequality and work is required.
