Assistant Professor , Urban and Inner-City Studies

University of Winnipeg

The University of Winnipeg Department of Urban and Inner-City Studies invites applications for a one-year term position. Urban and Inner-City Studies (UIC) is a multi-disciplinary program. Applications are invited from candidates in any discipline related to the study of urban and inner-city issues. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD or in the process of completing a PhD. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor depending on qualifications. A strong preference will be shown for candidates able to teach UIC courses that have been approved as a University of Winnipeg Indigenous Course Requirement. The UIC department is situated off-campus at Merchants Corner in Winnipeg’s North End and has a particular commitment to working with students and community organizations in this low-income area.

We will begin reviewing applications March 13, but consideration of applications will continue until such time as the position is filled. This appointment will be effective June 1, 2020, subject to budgetary approval.

The University of Winnipeg is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and recognizes that a diverse staff/faculty benefits and enriches the work, learning and research environments, and is essential to academic and institutional excellence. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals and encourage women, members of racialized communities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity to confidentially self-identify at time of application. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.

Applications, including a letter of application and a Curriculum Vitae, should be submitted online via the University of Winnipeg’s online recruitment system. For details on how to submit your application, please visit our Human Resources Website and under the Employment category, choose the Faculty Employment position vacancies option.
