Director, School of Physical Therapy

Applications or nominations are invited for the position of Director, School of Physical Therapy ( in the Faculty of Health Sciences ( The School of Physical Therapy, with its three Research Chairs, is a leader in musculoskeletal health and functional mobility which aligns with Western’s institutional research priorities, its’ Bone and Joint Institute, the Faculty of Health Sciences’ and School of Physical Therapy’s strategic plans. The School is home to the MPT and MClSc programs and leads the Physical Therapy Field in the MSc and PhD programs in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Physical Therapy is seeking a visionary Director; able to inspire research, innovation, and collaboration; and a strong communicator to foster a collegial and high performing culture. The Director will have a track record of facilitating research performance and a personal record of quality research achievement. A passion for learning and teaching, the capacity to manage change, resources and people, and an excellent ability to work constructively with professional bodies and external stakeholders, including the Hand & Upper Limb Center and Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic, is also essential. The preferred candidate will hold a degree in physical therapy and a doctorate in a related discipline, and will possess the qualifications to be appointed to a tenured academic position at the rank of Professor. Exceptional candidates with other academic qualifications will be considered. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The effective date of the appointment is July 1, 2019 or as negotiated. The term of the Director appointment is five years, renewable.
