The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS), invites developmental pediatricians to apply for the position of Divisional Director, Developmental Pediatrics (Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta), located at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment at the rank of either Associate or Full Professor at the University of Alberta. This is a fulltime 1.0 FTE position with a position profile of approximately 50% clinical service and 50% leadership/teaching/research/quality improvement duties.

Responsibilities

The University of Alberta Division of Developmental Pediatrics and the AHS Department of Child Health comprises developmental pediatricians, pediatric rehabilitation medicine specialists, family physicians, psychologists, and pediatric nurse practitioners, providing interdisciplinary care for children with various developmental disabilities and rehabilitation needs.

The group is located at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, a lifespan rehabilitation hospital which offers inpatient and outpatient specialized inter-professional services for children with neurodiversity. The successful applicant will join a group of pediatricians, pediatric physiatrists, developmental pediatricians, and interdisciplinary teams providing a full spectrum of neurodevelopmental and rehabilitation services through outpatient specialty clinics and the tertiary Pediatric Intensive Rehabilitation Inpatient Program. The Divisional Director will engage with the clinical leadership of Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and with the Department of Pediatrics to establish strategic direction for the Division within the Department of Pediatrics.

The Division is home to a number of active education and research programs providing opportunities and mentorship for academic pursuits.The successful applicant will be tasked with strengthening capacity for interdisciplinary research. The division is engaged in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has a fully accredited Developmental Pediatrics subspecialty-training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as fellowship opportunities. The Divisional Director will be responsible for supporting faculty contributions to education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and providing mentorship to faculty and learners.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold an MD, have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in Pediatrics or comparable qualifications and will have completed a recognized training program in Developmental Pediatrics. The applicant must be eligible to obtain a specialist license to practice in the Province of Alberta, and appropriate liability coverage.

Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.
