This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which the Mi’kmaq, Wəlastəkwiyik, and Peskotomuhkatiyik Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1726. These treaties did not implicate or affirm the surrender or transfer of land to the British, but recognized Mi’kmaq title and set the rules for what was to be a long-standing relationship between nations. The Centre for Interdisciplinary and Language Programs in Arts invites applications for a contractually limited term appointment in Spanish at the rank of Instructor commencing on 1 August 2023.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking teacher with experience or potential in: developing intercultural competence; promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in the classroom; and teaching languages in a rural environment. The candidate will be responsible for teaching first- and second-year Spanish courses, including Introductory Spanish, Intermediate Spanish and Spanish Communication Skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong interest and aptitude for teaching and student mentorship, and a willingness to participate in service activities within the department and university.

Academic Qualifications: M.A. in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign/Additional Language, or a related field.
