Lecturer/Assistant Professor ( 9.5 Month CLTA), Electric CIrcuits and Computer Programming
Position #20404 – The Ivan Curry School of Engineering invites applications for a 9.5-month contractually-limited term (CLT) appointment as a lecturer/assistant professor, ideally commencing August 1, 2022. The school provides the first two years of education towards a Bachelor of Engineering. The successful applicant will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of 15 hours of courses in the field of electric circuits and computer programming. The first term’s assignment will include a core course in introductory circuit analysis (Electric Circuits 1, APSC 2213). The course includes Kirchoff’s laws, node and mesh analysis, terminal behaviour and circuit equivalence including Thévenin and Norton circuits. Controlled sources and energy storage elements, steady state and transient response of first order networks are also covered. Steady state AC power, phasor diagrams, power and power factor are introduced.
General course duties include the creation and grading of quizzes, assignments, tests, and a final exam as well as providing student support during six scheduled office hours per week.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the position would have had previous experience teaching courses in electrical engineering and computer programming. A PhD in electrical/computer engineering is the normal minimum qualification for this position, but candidates with significant professional experience and a master’s degree in the areas of expertise outlined above will also be considered in lieu of a PhD. Registration as a professional engineer in a Canadian jurisdiction is required.
