The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for a part-time (0.6 FTE), six-month term position in the School of Nursing at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, with proposed starting date of January 1, 2022. The successful candidate will be teaching in year 3 and 4 of the NCBNP program. This position is located at the Terrace Campus, located in North West, British Columbia. The successful candidate will be expected to be available for in-person teaching, meetings, and other work at the Terrace campus.
The successful candidate will be required to design/revise/update courses, including consulting with the Chair, Program Coordinator, faculty, advisory committees, and potential employers and students. The candidate will have the opportunity to teach in multiple modalities, including online, face to face and in clinical settings. Other responsibilities include carrying out regularly scheduled instruction, ensuring students awareness of course objectives, completing course evaluations, as well as tutoring and academic counseling of students. Applicants for this position should hold and maintain a Registered Nurse designation with BCCNM, a BScN, master’s degree preferred, along with a minimum of five years clinical nursing experience and interest and experience in clinical teaching. Evidence of continuing professional development is required, and evidence of scholarship is an advantage. The successful applicant must demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal and teamwork skills, and be able to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and health service agencies. Candidates will present a record of teaching excellence. Some travel by road and air to regional campuses and northern communities is required. Registration with the BCCNM and a valid BC driver’s license are required.
