Two Tenure Track Positions - Assistant Professor Level, Marketing

McMaster University

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Marketing at the Assistant Professor level. The appointments will commence July 1, 2019 or be advertised until the positions are filled, subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates should have a PhD in Marketing or a related area. We are interested in soon-to-be PhD graduates as well as recent PhD graduates (currently serving at the Assistant professor rank). Candidates should have outstanding research skills and a passion for teaching. For the advanced candidates, we will look for evidence of significant scholarship in the form of publications or potential thereof, in top-tier or leading peer-reviewed scholarly journals. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests and expertise in applying contemporary data analytic techniques to study the general domain of marketing strategy, with focus in areas such as innovation and new product development, business-to-business marketing, distribution channels, etc.

McMaster University was ranked 78 in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings and recognized as Canada’s most research intensive university in the 2017 Research Infosource rankings. The AACSB-accredited DeGroote School of Business is one of six faculties at McMaster and we believe in experiential learning: complementing classroom studies with hands-on experience. The DeGroote School of Business strives to create a strong, supportive and collegial research culture, building the research capacity of faculty and graduate students. Research resources available to successful candidates include access to multiple research centres and labs, widely used research databases as well as unique data archives.

Successful candidates are expected to contribute to research, supervision in our PhD program, and teaching in our undergraduate and MBA programs (with emphasis on Masters-level education). There are also opportunities to teach in our professionally oriented programs for executives. DeGroote operates at two campuses, the McMaster University main campus in Hamilton, Ontario and a new state-of-the-art facility in nearby Burlington, Ontario that houses our MBA and executive programs. Successful candidates are expected to be active at both locations.

Candidates should submit a cover letter, statement of research and teaching interests, curriculum vitae, research samples (published articles or working papers), evidence of teaching effectiveness, names and contact information of at least three references. Please apply online via the McMaster Academic Careers website (, (Faculty Postings, Job Opening ID: 20234) directing your application and supporting documentation to:
