Music Producer and Instructor in the Digital Audio Arts

The University of Lethbridge, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Music invites applications for an Instructor appointment (as Music Producer and Instructor in the Digital Audio Arts), commencing as early as July 1, 2021. The appointment is for a 3-year term. Primary teaching duties will be within the Digital Audio Arts (DAA) major of the Department of Music.

The Department of Music is seeking an industry professional and/or scholar working at the national or international level. Substantive professional experience in Audio Engineering and Music Production is required. A Master's degree or Doctorate in Music Production or a related music field is considered an asset. The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the ongoing development of the department's undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music and the Digital Audio Arts, as well as participate actively in collegial governance at the department, faculty, and university levels.
Teaching duties will include introductory to advanced courses in modern recording techniques, electronic popular music production, technical ear training, and audio workstation skills development. Successful candidates will be expected to broaden the popular music course offerings in the department, and to develop audio production activities in the areas of Black musics, including but not limited to hip-hop and EDM. Additional teaching assignments in other areas of Music and the DAA will depend upon the candidate’s field of expertise and could include courses such as: Traditional Recording Techniques, Location Recording, Audio Spatialization Techniques, Applied Research in the Digital Audio Arts, and Mixing for Film and Digital Media.
