Successful candidates will be expected to carry out the duties of this position with a dynamic and creative approach. In particular, they will be expected to:

• initiate and carry out research projects supported by funding agencies;
• initiate and carry out research collaborations with industry on original topics;
• supervise graduate students;
• teach undergraduate and graduate courses;
• contribute to various administrative functions in Polytechnique Montréal;
• participate in service functions towards the academic and professional communities and society.
New professors are provided with technical support and modern IT environments, as well as with startup grants to help launch their research activities.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated their potential to initiate and lead an independent research program in numerical thermofluid mechanics, emerging methods in CFD, algorithmic, high performance computing.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. They should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Industrial experience will be considered an asset.
Applicants must hold a solid research track record showing their potential to develop and lead an independent research program, allowing them to obtain research financing in order to support graduate students. They must demonstrate excellent aptitudes for teaching, preferably attested by teaching evaluations.

Applicants must be registered with the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec as an engineer before obtaining tenure. The language of teaching is French; thus, successful candidates will have to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of spoken and written French shortly after the start of employment.
