Job Description:

The Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, University of Manitoba is seeking a full-time Research Associate for a three year term. The department is seeking an individual with a background in conducting research on the beneficial effects of nutraceuticals and herbal medicine in vascular disorders linked to acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and associated metabolic disorders; research on nutritional regulation of oxidative stress and inflammatory response in animal and human health and disease. This position is linked to an initiative to embed research focused on developmental origins of kidney health and disease, thus applicants with demonstrated experience and interests in developing and implementing in vivo and in vitro studies that investigate cause-effect mechanisms and natural product chemistry are encouraged to apply.


As the successful candidate, you must have earned a doctorate or equivalent degree in relevant life or biomedical sciences. Postdoctoral training in pathophysiology and pharmacology using multi-disciplinary cross-cutting techniques, and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement cutting edge experimental approaches is required. The successful applicant will also be experienced in cell and molecular biology, analytical and biochemical analysis. A record of collaboration is an important asset. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the mentoring and training of undergraduate and graduate students and fellows, so a track record supporting these activities is desirable.

Starting salary plus benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience but limited by the median baseline for the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences.
