Term Appointment in French and Francophone Studies

Brandon University

The Department of Francophone Studies and Languages at Brandon University invites applications for a 3-year term position. The preferred qualification for this position is a PhD in French or Francophone Studies, or a related disciplinary or interdisciplinary field. ABD applicants nearing completion prior to the start date of the appointment may also be considered. 

*Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the doctorate and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to student-centered undergraduate teaching and learning and provide evidence of teaching competence in Francophone literary and cultural studies and French language instruction, including grammar courses. Preference will be given to candidates whose expertise encompasses one or more of the following areas: French and Francophone literature and culture, with expertise extending beyond Québec considered a major asset; literary and interdisciplinary critical approaches; Francophone cinema, media, and digital cultures, and intermedial practices; gender, feminist, and sexuality studies; the politics of language, identity, and culture; and comparative, transnational, intercultural, or multilingual approaches to literary and cultural studies.

In addition, the successful candidate must have an active research and/or research-creation and publishing program. Willingness to participate collegially in service to the department, university and the community that it serves will be expected.

Start Date: 4 January 2027

Rank and Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience
