Two Year Limited Term Learning Specialist, Ancillary Academic Staff II

The University of Windsor’s Office of Open Learning invites applications for a two-year Limited Term Learning Specialist, Ancillary Academic Staff II position commencing as early as December 1, 2020. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Office of Open Learning at the University of Windsor works to enhance the University’s capacity in online, open and technology-enhanced learning opportunities to all our students and to critically explore the possibilities provided by open and online learning environments. We are looking for an Educational Developer, Online Assessment and Learning to join our team, providing expertise in scholarly and evidence-based approaches to online assessment of learning and instructional design. The position will also support the implementation of new online assessment tools. Your expert advice in the design and development of online and technology-supported assessment will enhance pedagogical practices and the student experience at the University of Windsor, through your collaboration with multiple stakeholders to develop assessment and instructional design plans involving educational technologies. This position will advise faculty and staff on the innovative use of instructional technologies to support teaching, learning, and assessment, especially for online and hybrid/blended courses. The role will be expected to contribute to teaching-related activities, scholarship, and service within and beyond the OOL.

The successful candidates for this position will demonstrate these essential qualifications:
• A graduate degree (minimum of Masters degree) in Education, Educational Technology, or Instructional Design, with a focus on eAssessment, online or technology-enabled teaching and learning, or instructional design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Minimum 3 years experience in educational development and/or formal instructional design roles (or equivalent), supporting faculty in the pedagogical use of educational technologies including for online assessment;
• Experience with assessment in STEM fields would be an advantage;
• Demonstrated understanding of effective strategies for integrating learner-centered accessible technologies into post-secondary courses and experience supporting the innovative use of instructional technologies for teaching and learning;
• Proficiency with common Learning Management Systems (especially Blackboard), online assessment management systems an advantage (e.g. BetterExaminations, Questionmark, ExamSoft or similar), web-conferencing tools, multi-media technologies, all Microsoft Office 365 applications, and willingness and aptitude to learn new technologies;
• Demonstrated experience with online teaching, instructional design, and faculty development, preferably at a university or college
• Excellent facilitation and presentation skills in both face-to-face and online environments;
• Commitment to open educational practices/OER and accessibility (including knowledge of AODA standards);
• Demonstrated engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning, eAssessment, online and open learning (e.g. through publications and presentations or alternative scholarship forms) and familiarity with teaching and learning literature;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a small team, and to consult with students, faculty and staff from a variety of backgrounds in a professional and collaborative manner;
• Leadership ability, especially as it pertains to implementation of educational technologies, considered an asset;
• Experience in project or change management, especially for educational technology implementation projects, considered an asset;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment; and
• Familiarity with the academic mission of the University.
