The Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a full-time, term faculty position (1.0 FTE) at the rank of Assistant Professor (Without Review) in Pharmacology.
The UBC Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics consists of more than 450 physicians, scientists and teaching faculty who provide undergraduate and graduate programs in pharmacology and therapeutics, postgraduate residency programs and fellowships in anesthesiology. This faculty appointment within the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics will provide the candidate with opportunities for collaboration with the scientists in the department and the wider Faculty of Medicine scientific community, as well as linkages to relevant research centres and institutes at UBC.
Reporting to the Head of the UBC Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics, the successful candidate will have training in Pharmacology, or a directly related discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to have demonstrated potential as a future leader in a field of his/ her research but directly aligned with the strategic goals of the UBC Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics (https://apt.med.ubc.ca/about/strategic-plan/).
The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent credentials, with postdoctoral research experience. The highest degree must have been obtained within the last 7 years. The incumbent will have demonstrated evidence of the potential to develop an independent research program directly related to one of the established research themes in the Department. The candidate should provide evidence of the ability to attract funding from provincial, national, and international agencies with the intention of the continuance of support to the research program. Demonstrated ability to catalyze multidisciplinary collaboration within the Department and University would be a significant asset. The successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of ability in teaching and will be expected to participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate teaching which may include the delivery on online teaching, and mentorship in the Department. The incumbent will show demonstrated ability in scholarly activity and will be expected to provide service to the University and the broader academic and professional community.
