Position No. BK640-34339

The Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba invites applications for the position of Head of the Department of Educational Administration, Foundations, and Psychology (EAFP) at the rank of probationary or tenured Associate Professor or Professor. This position is a five-year term commencing on July 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary will be commensurate with rank, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities:
EAFP department members are actively engaged in innovative research, teaching, and service across diverse provincial, national, and international contexts and partnerships. Department members teach and advise students in the Bachelor of Education (BEd), Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education (PBDE), Master of Education (MEd), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs.

As Department Head, the successful candidate will be expected to:
• facilitate the dynamic growth and continuing collaborative evolution of the Department in alignment with the University and Faculty strategic plans;
• lead the Department in a respectful, collaborative, and equitable manner that facilitates the participation of all department members;
• facilitate dialogue and collaboration between the field and the Department;
• advocate for the Department while serving as an active member of the Faculty’s Administrative Team;
• coordinate the MEd programs in the department;
• support department members in their collective responsibility to provide effective programming and quality student experiences;
• advocate for research-informed decisions across all segments of the educational community;
• sustain and create initiatives to support the needs of the educational community; and
• support professional development and create opportunities for continued critical conversations in education.

Qualifications:
All applicants must hold an earned doctorate from an accredited university in one of the Department’s areas of specialization: Indigenous perspectives, social justice and equity studies, adult and higher education, inclusive education, educational leadership, cross-cultural and international perspectives, community organizations, sociology, psychology, and counselling psychology. There is strong interest in welcoming a scholar to the Department in the area of inclusive education.

Ideal applicants will hold a probationary or tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Consideration may also be given to candidates with significant educational, research, and administrative experience in related educational contexts.

The successful candidate must have a significant and ongoing record of research, teaching, and service and provide evidence of their ability to contribute to the academic needs and priorities of the Department and the Faculty.
