The Faculty of Nursing, University of Calgary, invites applications for 3 positions at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (with tenure). The appointments will ideally commence July 1, 2027, or at a mutually agreeable date. Candidates will be assessed against the qualifications and requirements for the advertised rank(s) for which they may qualify.

Candidates must have a PhDin nursing or a related discipline and must be eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.

Applicants at the Assistant rank will be early career academics who are establishing research programs, have previous professional and teaching experience, an emerging publication record, and promising capability in undergraduate and graduate-level teaching and graduate supervision.

Applicants at the Associate rank will be mid-career nursing academics with a well-established track record of competitive research funding with demonstrated impact in their area of focus, demonstrated excellence in teaching within undergraduate and graduate programs, supervision of graduate students, evidence of established academic partnerships in professional and other communities, and engagement with colleagues in support and development of priority faculty initiatives.

The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary aims to be world leaders in women’s health. Candidates at either rank must have a demonstrated focus on women’s health within their particular area of specialization. Particular areas of interest for the faculty under the women’s health umbrella include:

• Menstrual and sexual health
• Menopause and healthy ageing
• Women’s heart health
• Mis/dis information
• Chronic pain
• Mental health and reproductive transitions
• Indigenous women’s health
• Black and racialized women’s health
• Innovation in women’s health

Position responsibilities

The successful candidate(s) will establish or continue active programs of research, teach and mentor learners in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, supervise graduate students, and contribute to academic service within the Faculty, University, profession, and broader community. Responsibilities will include developing and sustaining programs of research; disseminating scholarship through peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly outputs; classroom, clinical, and/or graduate-level teaching; student assessment, feedback, and mentorship; graduate supervision; curriculum and program contributions; and participation in Faculty and University service. The successful candidate(s) will foster respectful, inclusive learning and research environments and contribute to the Faculty's strategic focus on women's health through research, teaching, graduate supervision, and service.
