About the position
The Department of Applied Linguistics invites applicants for a 12-month Instructional Limited Term Faculty Appointment (LTA) at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence September 1, 2025. This is a full-time teaching intensive position. The successful candidate will be expected to teach eight courses in areas related to general linguistics during the period of appointment. While these courses will primarily be at the undergraduate level, there may be a possibility of also teaching a graduate level course.
Our department offers programs of study leading to Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees in Applied Linguistics/Teaching English as a Second Language, and Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, as well as an MA in Applied Linguistics/TESL. All students are required to take introductory and junior level courses in core areas of traditional linguistics.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD (ABD may be considered) in Linguistics or a related discipline. Applicants are expected to have a record of successful teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: General Linguistics, Phonology, Phonetics, Syntax, Morphology, Neurolinguistics and/or Psycholinguistics.
