The Department of History at Mount Allison University invites applications for a nine-month full-time sessional position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in European or transregional or global history before 1800, beginning August 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will teach five courses in person. In the fall semester they will be responsible for Hist 2001 Europe During the Medieval Era and a third-year special topics course. In the winter semester, teaching duties include a second-year course in either Europe before 1500 or global history before 1800, a first-year special topics course; and a third-year special topics course. In consultation with the Department, the special topics courses may be developed from material in the candidate’s areas of teaching and research expertise, or from History courses listed in the Mount Allison Academic Calendar.
Candidates should have or be very close to completion of a PhD in History and have prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level. A letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a sample syllabus from a first or second year course and one from an upper level course, and the names and contact information of three references should be submitted in one PDF file to :
