Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, invites applications for a limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Media, Film, and Communications Production in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. The position will commence on August 1, 2025, and continue for 2 years.

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies on the Orillia campus offers both bachelors and honours bachelors programs in Media, Film, and Communications. We are seeking a committed faculty member and flexible instructor to join our department.

Applicants for this position should have a PhD and / or MA with active professional creative practice in multi-media, film, video, and/or audio production. The ability to teach a range of undergraduate Media, Film, and Communication production courses with a commitment to innovative pedagogy and student engagement is required. Production courses include:

• MDST 1050: Introduction to Media and Film Production
• MDST 2030: Media Production
• MDST 3690: Cinematography
• MDST 3650: Sound Production and Post-Production
• MDST 4650: Special Topics in Media Production

The candidate will also be expected to manage and supervise approximately ten student internships / community placements, organize and curate the Media Arts Showcase, manage media equipment, and assist with student recruitment and advising. The candidate should provide evidence of strong organizational and presentation skills.
