About the position
The Faculty of Education invites applications for a 24-month Instructional Limited Term Appointment (ILTA) at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in the Technological Education Teacher Education program. While this is a fully online program, the successful candidate must be physically resident in Ontario and is expected to contribute to Program and Departmental service. The successful applicant is expected to begin teaching no later than January 1st, 2026. The position will remain open until filled.
This is a full-time teaching-focused position with responsibilities in curriculum course delivery. We are seeking a candidate with advanced qualifications and extensive experience in Technological Education Teacher Education who can contribute immediately to the instruction of teacher candidates in Ontario’s Ministry of Education Broad-Based Technology (BBT) curriculum.
The successful candidate will teach 4.0 full course equivalents (FCEs) from the Technological Education Teacher Education curriculum. The candidate may be required to teach a variety of the following courses:

Qualifications
Applicants must provide evidence of
• Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification in Technological Education or equivalent.
• Experience in secondary technological education or trades-based teacher training.
• Instructional expertise, pedagogical leadership, and familiarity with OCT and Ministry of Education Technological Education curriculum and policies for grades 9-12.
• Area of expertise and demonstrated teaching experience and familiarity with shop/lab safety in at least one broad-based technology subject curriculum areas, including Communications Tech, Computer Tech, Construction Tech, Green Industries, Hairstyling and Aesthetics, Health Care, Hospitality and Tourism, Manufacturing Tech, Technological Design, Transportation Tech in secondary or post-secondary settings.
• Proficiency in online instruction and design, and remote learning platforms (eg. Brightspace, MSTeams).
• Experience working with diverse learners, commitment to safety, accessibility, and culturally relevant pedagogy in technology classrooms.
• Active involvement in curriculum development, equity-informed instruction, and safe practices in Technological Education classrooms.
• Experience instructing teacher education courses and/or mentoring teacher candidates.
• A completed doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Educational Studies, Curriculum Studies or a related field, or equivalent combination of advanced training and higher education credentials, professional experience and scholarly or community-engaged contributions is required. Doctoral candidates who are ABD may be considered if they meet the other qualifications;
• Leadership in programs such as SHSM, OYAP, Dual Credit, and experiential education is an asset;
• A record of mentorship in technological education settings or in Additional Qualification (AQ) is an asset.
• Honours Technological Education Specialist (or equivalent credential) is an asset.
The Technological Education Teacher Education program recognizes a variety of pathways to expertise, including apprenticeship completion, Red Seal certification, industry leadership, and community-engaged teaching.
