The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences of McGill University is seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure-track professor in oceanography and earth systems.  

The appointment is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level, and the successful applicant will develop an active research program, supervise graduate students, and have a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. We seek candidates who will pursue research in physical oceanography with a strong modelling, observational, and/or theoretical component. The range of possible research areas includes (but is not limited to) ocean-atmosphere coupling, interactions with the cryosphere, coastal processes, arctic oceanography, dynamics, and the ocean’s role in climate and climate change.

The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences has strong ties with McGill’s Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Science, and Geography departments. In the larger Montreal area, we also have strong ties with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), OURANOS, and UQAM. Access to high performance computing is through the Digital Research Alliance of Canada.
