The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of July 1st, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $79,132 to $98,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. in Statistics (or a related field) at the time of appointment and demonstrate the potential to develop a research program in their area of specialty. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses within our Applied Statistics program. Furthermore, the candidate should have the desire and capability to contribute to the development and curriculum of our Applied Statistics program.

Our Team
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science has an enthusiastic group of faculty members in the areas of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Our department offers an Applied Statistics program with specializations in the areas of Economics, Psychology and Geography. Other programs offered by the department include Mathematics, Mathematics Education and Computer Science. The University has a strong focus on experiential learning, and the undergraduate student research is often funded by grants received by faculty members, NSERC, or other internal scholarship opportunities. The University is a member of the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences, which offers funding opportunities for workshops, seminars, outreach activities, and various other programs.

Application Process

1. A letter of application.
2. A curriculum vitae, which should include, if applicable, any mentorship or other relevant activities outside of academia.
3. A brief description of the proposed research program (3 pages). Where possible, this should highlight opportunities for collaborations with other departments or industry, as well as any opportunities for student involvement.
4. A statement of teaching interests and philosophy (2 pages), as well as brief outlines of courses previously taught.
5. Contact information for three references who are academics in relevant fields. Referees will be contacted directly with information on how to submit their reference letters. The application submission triggers this request to your references, so please ensure that they are prepared to submit their letters no later than November 22nd, 2025. At least one of these should directly address teaching capabilities, and at least one should directly assess the prospective research plan.
6. A statement (1-2 pages) that describes any current or planned activities and contributions made to advance EDI in academic (including both research and teaching), professional, or community contexts.
