The Faculty of Business & Information Technology at Ontario Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the area of Accounting. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2024, or as soon as it is filled.


Applicants must possess a university graduate degree (or equivalent) in Business or Accounting, and must hold a Canadian CPA designation. The ideal candidate will be able to teach in more than one accounting area in our accredited Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (BCom) Accounting major. These areas are: Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, and/or Financial Statement Analysis. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding teaching experience or strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. Experience teaching in a Canadian post-secondary environment, especially where that experience includes teaching with cases, is desirable.

Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate should have demonstrable skills in the integration of technology into teaching, and be able to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations. Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s). The successful candidate will be expected to follow an 70% teaching and 20% service and 10% other workload for the year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty AssociationUOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
