Working closely with a second, experienced veterinarian, approximately 75% of the appointment will be dedicated to coordinating and supervising elective surgeries in Year 4 of the undergraduate veterinary program. The remaining 25% of the Lecture’s time will be devoted to developing and supervising exercises and laboratories in Years 1 to 3 of the curriculum that prepare students for live-animal surgery.

The Lecturer will also participate in the Major Surgery service of the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC), which also include sharing after-hours on-call responsibilities. 

Applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan (see https://svma.sk.ca/). The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring veterinary  students for success in clinical practice, particularly in primary and elective surgery.

The WCVM (https://wcvm.usask.ca/) is Western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine and is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group on the University of Saskatchewan’s main campus. The VMC (https://vmc.usask.ca/) is a state-of-the-art, AVMA- and AAHA-accredited, primary care hospital and referral centre serving Western Canada. The centre provides specialty services – and supports undergraduate and graduate veterinary student training – in anesthesia; dentistry; dermatology; exotic, wild, and zoo animals; internal medicine; medical imaging; nutrition; oncology; ophthalmology; radiation oncology; and surgery.

This position is within the scope of the University of Saskatchewan Faculty Association (https://usaskfaculty.ca/). The salary band for this position for the 2026-2027 academic year is $95,187 to $139,203 and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
