LIMITED-TERM POSITION, DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY, 25/26

LIMITED-TERM POSITION, SOCIOLOGY, 25/26

The Department of Sociology invites applications for a 12-month limited-term position to begin on August 15, 2025. The successful applicant will teach five courses in the Crime and Community Stream, for a total of 15 credit hours, including:
• 90.156, Fall Term (Introduction to Crime and Community)
• 90.257, Fall Term (Sociology of Deviant Behaviour)
• 90.367/467, Winter Term (Theories of Deviant Behaviour)
Plus
• One course at the 300 level in deviance and crime (Winter 2026)
• One course at the 400 level in deviance and crime (Fall 2025) in the candidate’s expertise (any of 487 Critical Sociology, or 491 Advanced Theory or Methods, or 499 Special Topics): calendar.fm

The essential qualification is a PhD in Sociology or Criminology, and applicants who are ABD may also be considered. Applicants seeking to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the doctorate degree are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee for more information on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials. Applicants must demonstrate the expertise to teach in Deviance and Crime, and teaching experience in the area of Deviance and Crime, as well as Theories of Deviant Behaviour will be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will join a department with supportive colleagues that are actively working towards equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in their research and teaching programs. The candidate will have opportunities to develop their career and have access to a Professional Development Allowance. Additionally, multiple professional mentorship opportunities are available to the successful candidate. Willingness to participate collegially in service to the department, university, and the community that it serves will be expected.

Start Date: 15 August, 2025 or upon the availability of the successful candidate.
Rank and Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience
