Position Profile: 

The Faculty of Law at Western University invites applications for Probationary appointments at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure track), or Tenured appointments at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. While the Faculty has particular interest in candidates working in law and technology, broadly conceived, including business law, intellectual property, financial regulation, and innovation governance, applications are welcomed from outstanding candidates in any area of law.
 

Academic Expectations:

The successful candidates will be expected to take an active role within the Faculty of Law and demonstrate engagement with the Faculty's teaching, research, and service mission in their area of expertise.
They will bring to the classroom a deep understanding of the role of law in addressing contemporary challenges and shaping social, economic, and technological developments.

Qualifications or Experience and Skills Required:

Applicants should demonstrate the academic qualifications appropriate for a successful career in legal scholarship and teaching, typically including a JD, LLB, or equivalent law degree. Additional graduate education and relevant professional experience will be considered favourably.
Successful applicants will have expertise at the intersection of law and technology, broadly defined. Relevant areas may include business law, intellectual property, financial regulation, innovation governance, and related fields. Applications from outstanding candidates working in any area of law will be considered.

The ideal candidate will possess a scholarly profile towards teaching and will provide evidence of, or strong potential for, effective teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels, together with an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the Faculty’s programs. Ideal candidates will have a record of, or demonstrated potential for, legal scholarship illustrated through a commitment with policy makers, professional communities, or other relevant audiences to support the translation and impact of scholarly knowledge.
