TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN COUNSELLING
The Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Counselling. The start date for this position is July 1, 2026, and is subject to final budgetary approval.
The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 – 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.
We invite applications for a position in Counselling Education. The successful candidate will have:
• A doctoral-level degree in Counselling Psychology or Counsellor Education from an accredited institution;
• Professional association as a Licensed Counselling Therapist, Certified Counsellor, Clinical Counsellor or Psychotherapist (e.g., with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick, Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association) is a requirement;
• A minimum of five (5) years of counselling and supervising experience;
• Strong record of teaching experience (3 years minimum) in counsellor education.
The ideal candidate will also bring:
• A strong passion for and a strong record of teaching, clinical work, and thesis supervision at the graduate level;
• A strong record of participation in counsellor training activities, including the provision of clinical supervision to trainees;
• A record of scholarship related to Counselling Psychology or Counsellor Education;
• Experience counselling in diverse cultural and linguistic contexts would be an asset (eg. Black, 2SLGBTQIA++, etc.);
• Preference will be afforded to those candidates who have knowledge and experience with Wabanaki communities working in a counselling context, given that this program is situated on Wabanaki lands in New Brunswick.
The successful applicant will be versatile using various teaching modalities including online delivery methods. Deadline for applications is January 12, 2026. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
