The Department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, N.B., invites applications for a tenure track position in Developmental Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2027, subject to final budgetary approval.

The river that runs by our university is known as Wolastoq, along which live Wolastoqiyik, “the people of the beautiful and bountiful river.” Wolastoq is also known as the St. John River. 

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field, specializing in Developmental Psychology. Specific areas of interest can be broad within this field, but experience and expertise in neuropsychological or neuroscientific methods is required, as the successful candidate will contribute to newly launched graduate programs in Neuroscience (including a traditional MSc and PhD, and a course-based Masters in Applied Neuroscience).

The successful candidate will teach a range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, which will include Child Development, Adulthood and Aging, and other Developmental Psychology courses. They will also contribute to other teaching in the Department of Psychology at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will be required to develop an original research program, including the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. Evidence of research and teaching competence will be required, as indicated by the submission of a statement of research interests and experience, a teaching dossier, teaching evaluations, and reference letters from individuals familiar with the candidate's teaching and research capabilities. 

The Department of Psychology on the Saint John Campus of UNB offers undergraduate programs in Psychology and Biology-Psychology, as well as a thesis-based Master of Arts in Psychology, a course-based Master of Applied Psychology, Research, and Evaluation, and a Ph.D. in Psychology that is offered jointly with the Department of Psychology at UNB Fredericton. From Fall of 2027 the Department will also offer graduate programs in Neuroscience. The Department has a strong background in experimental/applied psychology and solid links with Horizon Health Network, Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, the provincial government, and non-profit organizations supporting the community.  Faculty in the Department also contribute to the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology Program offered at UNB Fredericton.

The salary for the position depends on the rank at which the successful candidate is hired. Faculty salary grids by rank are available here: https://www.unb.ca/hr/_assets/documents/salary-grids.pdf. Salary and fringe benefits are governed by Sections 35 and 36B of the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2025-2029 Collective Agreement.  Applicants should clearly state whether they are a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or an international applicant.
