Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Structural Geology, Geology and Geological Engineering dept.

The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering is seeking individuals with a strong research expertise in the field of Structural Geology. The selected candidate will be expected to teach in the department’s programs at the undergraduate and graduate level, develop a funded and innovative research program that complements the strengths of our programs.
The responsibilities associated with these positions include:
- Teaching and supervising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
- Conducting research and publishing in areas related to the position;
- Participating in the pedagogical and administrative activities of the department and Faculty;
- Engaging in external academic activities that contribute to the visibility of the Faculty and University.
Selection Criteria The selection criteria are as follows:
- Hold a bachelor's degree in geology, geological engineering or another related program, and a Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the teaching and research areas targeted by this position, or be close to completing a Ph.D. (thesis submitted);
- Experience or an interest in structural geology applied to mineral resources;
- Relevance of academic training and experience to the identified field;
- Demonstrated ability to conduct university-level research;
- Potential to develop an autonomous and original research program in the identified field;
- Demonstrated, or potential, ability to teach at all university levels, to supervise graduate students, and foster pedagogical innovation;
- Demonstrated, or potential, aptitudes for community service;
- As Université Laval is a French-language institution, the selected candidate must be able to provide high-quality instruction in French or commit to being able to do so within a maximum of three years;
- Be a registered member of a Canadian professional geological or engineering association or be able to become one within a maximum of three years;

Conditions
Appointment and Compensation: Salary will be determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement in effect at the time of hiring.
Additional Information: The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering consists of a team of 13 professors who teach approximately 150 undergraduate students and supervise over 80 graduate students. Research in the department is organized around four main thematics: geomaterials, mineral resources, natural hazard analysis, and hydrogeology.
