Tenure-Track Position - Department of Physical Education Studies

Brandon University

The Department of Physical Education Studies is inviting applications for a tenure-track position. The Department offers a Bachelor of Physical Education Studies degree, which includes three streams: Recreation and Sport Management, Teaching, and Exercise Science and Fitness. The Department seeks an ideal candidate whose teaching expertise falls within the Recreation and Sport Managment or Teaching streams or complements current faculty in the Exercise Science and Fitness Stream. Importantly, the Department of Physical Education Studies is a dynamic program with research success and momentum.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in their area of expertise and may also be required to teach courses outside their specialization within the Department of Physical Education Studies (e.g., Organization and Administration, Foundations of Recreation and Leisure, Movement and Activities, Inclusive Physical Activity and Leisure, Recreation and Community Development, Physical Education Methods courses, Outdoor Education, Introduction to Applied Biomechanics). Please note, the typical teaching workload consists of 5 courses (15 credit units) across two terms. In addition, responsibilities also include providing service to the University and broader community. The candidate may be expected to contribute to strategic planning, general program administration, curriculum planning, assessment, and course development.

Qualifications:
• Doctorate in Physical Education Studies or a related field (e.g., Human Kinetics, Kinesiology, and Exercise Science) is preferred. Someone with a master’s degree and near completion of a doctoral program (ABD) will also be considered. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to these qualifications and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.

• Demonstrated evidence for research excellence and to work independently.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to work closely with athletics (e.g., coaches, athletic therapist, and athletic director).
• Ability to contribute to a small-university environment with a focus on community.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
