Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full-time, 2-year term position as a Lecturer in Food Animal Theriogenology in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (https://wcvm.usask.ca/departments/large-clinical.php) at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), with the possibility of renewal.

This position entails a 75% commitment to the food animal theriogenology clinical service of the Veterinary Medical Centre (https://vmc.usask.ca/) while providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students – primarily those in the fourth or final year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program – as wells as interns and residents. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities, including lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations in Years 1 to 3 of the DVM curriculum, and graduate courses. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be available for research, administrative responsibilities, and related activities. 

Applicants must hold a DVM degree or equivalent, have completed an approved residency in theriogenology, and either be certified, i.e., a Diplomate, of the American College of Theriogenologists or be eligible for certification at the time of appointment. Completion of an advanced degree in a related field is desirable. They must also be eligible to work in Canada and must possess an appropriate Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association license (https://svma.sk.ca/become-a-member/dvm/) by the start of the appointment. 

The Food Animal Theriogenology Service currently operates with one faculty member working in close collaboration with two Food Animal Field Service Clinical Associates and three faculty, providing comprehensive coverage of both in-clinic cases and theriogenology-related field calls. This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of clinical services in assisted reproductive technologies. The service has also recruited a resident. On-call and after-hours duties are shared among members of the Food Animal Theriogenology and Food Animal Field Services.

The WCVM (https://wcvm.usask.ca/) is Western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine and currently enrolls about 360 undergraduate students from three western provinces and northern jurisdictions, as well as approximately 200 graduate students. It offers specialty services and training in anesthesia; dentistry; dermatology; exotic, wild, and zoo animal medicine; internal medicine; medical imaging; nutrition; oncology; ophthalmology; radiation oncology; surgery; and theriogenology. As well, the University of Saskatchewan’s Goodale Farm will have a new Beef Reprotech Building in 2027 to facilitate research and training in assisted reproductive technologies and their advancements for the benefit of beef producers.

Salary band for this position for the 2026-2027 academic year is $95,187 to $139,203. Salary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
