Specialist in Canadian Politics

The University of Winnipeg, Department of Political Science, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2027, subject to budgetary approval. The preferred applicant will have a completed PhD in Political Science, or a directly related field, with a specialization in Canadian Politics. The preferred applicant will have a record of publication and teaching in this field. 

We are a department strong in both teaching and research, offering a comprehensive program in Political Science, including a Masters in Public Administration. Our program attracts excellent students in both our undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Canadian politics and related courses at all levels, including introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses.

As per our Collective Agreement, the successful applicant will receive a reduced teaching load in the first year and will be eligible for another in their second year. Additionally, faculty members who receive tri-council funding normally receive a yearly teaching reduction commensurate with their grant role.
